Top model Sophie Anderton 'doesn't do' catwalk modelling but made an exception for a close friend in an appearance which stole last night's designers' show at Liverpool Fashion Week.

The Adelphi hotel's packed crowd gasped and the 20-strong scrum of photographers elbowed each other out of the way to capture the svelte brunette as she took to the catwalk, simply stunning in designer Neil Paul Cooper's exquisite, end-of-show dress.

This black silk dress was cut short at the front and left long and flowing at the back, Gold ruches formed one shoulder and fiery colours lined the skirt but the look was cooled down with aqua accents. Clever and original – but then what else do you expect from Liverpool?

The young, Wirral-based designer only managed to finish the Miss Anderton's finale dress at 1pm yesterday, just hours before the show's start. She said: 'That dress took a bit of orchestrating. Never before have I had to wear a dress for which I haven't even had a fitting!”.

The two are personal friends, Neil said: 'The first night I met her, I knew I'd made a friend for life.” Sophie, who has family in Liverpool, said of him: 'Whether he's at Liverpool Fashion Week or London Fashion Week, wherever he is, I will support him.

“It's the first time I've been to Liverpool Fashion Week and it's been an absolute pleasure.”

The show was compered by Natasha Hamilton who kept up the banter with her bubbly co-presenter (and his dog) between sets. Former Atomic Kitten Natasha, gorgeous in a coral dress and an armful of gold bangles, was asked to sing. She agreed and (after assuring the audience that her song choice did not refer to her front-row husband) belted out 'Somebody Else's Guy' thereby proving to the world that some girl band members do actually have a voice.

Five designers showed last night and none chose agency or London girls to model but made their picks from the city's glamourous youth.

Organiser Stacey Kocs told me how a general casting call had been put out for models a few weeks ago – for people of all ages, shapes and sizes who were then auditioned by the designers.

The girls of Liverpool stepped up to the task and they swung down the catwalk with attitude and professionalism. Many had the 'Liverpool look' – huge hair in loose curls - their pretty faces made up with smoky eyes and nude lipstick. It made such a refreshing change from the catwalk norm of shapeless models wearing blank expressions.

The DJ had the place bouncing as he weaved r&b favourites such as Beyonce's 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)' and 'Diva Remix (Female Hustler)'.

After Cooper's fluid robes, tailored in silks and crushed gold fabric (in a nod to this season's Prada) came a designer called Flatley.

Flatley's clothes showcased a considerable talent - this is a chameleon! Flatley can not only tailor a garment of any style to perfection but knows how to use pattern and colour. There were outfits ranging from fitted pencil skirts in fashionable nautical colours to 1970s-style maxi dresses, (as recently revisited by Temperley), in soft pastels and prints.

I think the best outfit was a white, halter-neck, all-in-one, worn by an elegant, black model. The girl's measured pace allowed the audience to enjoy the detailed embroidery which embellished her outfit. Beautiful.

Next up was Script menswear with the lads working some rock and roll style. Skull print t-shirts featuring intricate Jackson Pollock-style patterns were worn paired with eleborately embroidered jeans for a fresh, young look.

A dance performance in the interval by MD Productions, under choreographer Miguel Doforo, turned up the atmosphere a notch. The fifteen or so dancers, in a monochrome mix of gothic and mobster-styled outfits, gave us an explosive street-dance, performed with balletic precision.

The group made it to the semi-final of Simon Cowell's 'Britain's Got Talent' and last year some of the dancers performed at the MTV Music Awards. Deservedly so – they were mesmerising.

Designers 'The Dressing Room' offer vintage pieces and one-off occasion outfits.

Many of their outfits looked suitable for a visit to the Grand National – particularly Ladies' Day. Liverpool fashionistas spend a full 12 months getting ready for this, and some will spend three or four thousand pounds on local couture or high-end designer outfits. The Grand National, for the people of Liverpool, is about a proper day out with friends – one spent drinking, gambling and people-watching.

The Dressing Room's first model came out to Kanye West's 'Goldigger' - but I'm sure this was just a coincidence. Elaborate outfits included column dresses with sparkling necklines and Edwardian-style dresses - nipped in bodices with wide skirts but cut knee length and floating on seas of tulle petticoats.

The lovely Mark Melia dispensed with the DJ for his show and used two accordion players giving his show a Parisian feel. These musicians can be usually found busking on Bold Street (outside Waterstones). He said: “I practically had to drag them here – they don't speak a word of English!”

Mark designs delicate, feminine dresses. Some are close fitting and accented with the type of ruffling associated with Marchesa and Giambattista Valli with other styles loose and short. His use of turquoise and pea green showed his silk chiffon dresses off to perfection. My favourite was a long-sleeved shortish baby doll dress in white. It was off-the-shoulder and edged at the neckline and cuffs with wide black satin ribbon (he also did this dress in pink and pea green). It used yards and yards of pleated chiffon which swung beautifully.

Young designers F&M showed an innovative and boundary-free collection. Their irreverent mix of fabrics, patterns and colours was a hit with the fashion-savvy audience who went crazy for their skin-tight bodysuits.

Designer Ally Mac's business is hectic at the moment with the races coming up and she has a rack full of outfits to finish off in the next couple of weeks. Ally trained in dressmaking fifteen years ago and now jets all over the world to source her materials. She uses a variety of silks for her original designs – one which stood out in her collection was a loose-fitting Halston-style, long-sleeved all-in-one, in a soft gold colour. Stella McCartney is onto this look as well and has similar in her spring collection. My favourite outfit of Ally's had grey silk wide-leg trousers with a matching sleeveless and backless swing top.

Audience volunteers boxed off the evening by becoming catwalk models for a night, to the cheers of family and friends.

A fabulous night and we go again tonight, for the boutique show. The exquisite Sophie revisits the catwalk and Caprice is to join her. Can't wait - but what the hell am I going to wear??!

The weekend that was saw H as the busiest place on Victoria street once again. With Friday, Saturday and Sunday both full to capacity it was a weekend to remember. We were joined not once but on 3 occasions by Olympic Champion James Degale who just cant get enough of H’s absolutely Fabulous.

Saturday was the Fabulous Glamorous Hull City after party were the team partied on both floors until 3am. They were accompanied by Liverpool’s Philip Degan, Damian Plessis and Crystal Palaces Neil Danns.

Sunday was the busiest Sunday in the city were it was a Sports Personality after party to remember. With World Champion David Haye, James Degale, Former world champion Derry Matthews and a couple of Bayern Munich players for good measure. It doesn’t get no better.

This Friday our 3am team have the official Nelly single release party for his brand new record “Party People” Expect goody bags, single giveaways and our brand new resident from Garlands, Bed and Medication, Michael Ellis.

Saturday sees the Fabulous Glamorous parties carry on their Balearic theme with our official Ibiza party this Saturday. With a special guest DJ from DC-10 and free Sangria on all of our VIP tables the Summer is well and Truly in the mix at H..

Bank Holiday weekend was another amazing success for H, Liverpools premier VIP venue. With Alex Curran, Stephen Gerrard, Jermain Pennant, Amanda Harrington, Liz Mclarnon and a live performance from Natasha Hamilton all at the venue it was a weekend of Fabulous parties. Locked out by 10.30pm pm on Saturday and 9.30pm on Sunday H is the only place to be seen..

This week sees our 3am Friday team bring not 1 but 3 parties to the venue.. Room1 will host the Miss Liverpool after party and the Chester races after party. With the ultimate in style and panache it will be a who’s who affair. Room 2 will see our resident DJ hosting his Birthday Ball.

Saturday brings our Fabulous Glamorous team back once again for an exquisite Marbella leaving party. We have free champagne cocktails, Tequila Slammers and Balearic beats it will be your perfect start to summer..

Due to H becoming the fastest growing venue in the city we will now be open every Thursday and Sunday for 2 exclusive new parties playing the best in RnB, Funky House and Club Classics. During the summer we will have 2-4-1 bottles of wine all night in the exclusive surroundings Every Thursday and Sunday.

After another amazing weekend at H that saw both Friday and Saturday Locked out before midnight its time for the BUSIEST Bank Holiday weekend.

Not to be outdone by our last Bank Holiday where we had the busiest Friday on Victoria Street and were locked out on Bank Holiday Sunday by 11.30.

This Weekend we have gone one better, well three actually.. Friday Sees Amanda Harrington, Star of BBC3s Glamour Girls performing the First DJ Set on her European tour with F3t1sh DJ’s… Expect a lot.

Saturday Sees the Fabulous Glamorous Party number 1 with Natasha Hamilton’s No.1 Party. With a live performance of her international no.1 record “Round and Round” with Live Samba Band, Brazilian Dancers and Caipirinha Cocktails on Arrival it will be a party not to be missed.

Sunday sees the Fabulous Glamorous Party Number 2 with 2 floors of the best in RnB and Vocal House and Club Classics..

The whole weekend will be filmed for the start of the ITV Documentary on H Bar.. It will be interesting to say the least.

This week also sees the launch of our VIP Car Service. If you book a table you will be able to book a time and place for our Limousine to pick you and up to 7 guests up on your way to H..
